Ocean Selected by BC’s PHSA to Empower Providers with Best-In-Class Tools
In August, the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) in British Columbia selected the Ocean Platform for its Digital Referral & Orders (DRO) Program.
Ocean will provide an array of digital services, such as eReferrals, eConsults, and eOrders to help further empower providers with best-in-class digital interoperability tools.
The decision was made after extensive consultation with providers, staff, patients, and experts, including clinical leaders, regional health authorities, Doctors of BC, and the Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of BC (NNPBC) Association.
As the project progresses, continuous engagement with care providers, patients, and staff will ensure that the solution minimizes disruption and that users are adequately trained.
BC-Based Innovators wanted!
The DRO team is actively seeking physicians to support the successful release of these new digital capabilities. Please follow the link and complete the brief form to receive more details on how you can help shape the future.
Adoption Deepens Across Ontario
Ontario has made great strides to axe the fax since the first Ocean eReferral pilot launched in 2015. Today, more than 80,000 eReferrals are sent every month by thousands of clinics and the number continues to climb.
In line with the Province’s commitment to Patients Before Paperwork, multiple world-leading hospitals have recently launched their Ocean integrations to accept eReferrals. Altogether, these latest additions have helped grow the network of Ocean Healthmap directory listings to over 4,000 eReferral receivers in Ontario alone.
These include:
- Women’s College Hospital went live with Nephrology, Anorectal and Birth Control Centre clinics, and additional pathways are underway
- Trillium Health Partners, Canada’s largest community-based academically affiliated hospital, are now receiving DI eReferrals at three centres: Credit Valley Hospital, Queensway Health Center and Mississauga Hospital
- The Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI) integration — a joint program shared between University Health Network, Sinai Health, and Women’s College Hospital – is now accepting Ocean eReferrals
